Biography

Anika Marsh is a fine artist with a deep passion for oil painting. She was born and raised in Tokyo, Japan, and moved to Providence, RI. Anika graduated from The American School in Japan and earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Painting at the Rhode Island School of Design (RISD). Her love for painting, specifically oil, began when she was 13 years old. Since then, she has continued to paint, and is currently working on new works of art at her studio in Providence, RI and is currently an Exhibiting Artist Member at the Providence Art Club.

Artist Statement

Born and raised in Tokyo, Japan, Anika’s favorite things about her hometown growing up was being surrounded by the beauty of each season. She organizes each of her paintings into four seasonal collections based on her feelings and her experiences with the seasons of her hometown. The seasons are implied through her usage of visual hints like color and various subject matter to celebrate the seasonal vibes. She gives each painting life through a hint of abstraction mixed with a realist approach, to make the painting feel grounded, while also making the paint feel like paint.

Anika sources her inspiration from aspects of her daily life, whether it's from the bunnies from her front yard in Rhode Island to the Japanese gardens of her hometown in Tokyo.

Anika Marsh Fine Art is owned and run by artist Anika Marsh. She creates original oil paintings as well as produces limited edition prints at her studio in Providence, RI. 

Anika aims to connect and give art enthusiasts and art collectors the nostalgic feeling of nature and the outdoors in their homes or offices through paintings that depict wildlife, landscapes, and birds.

Anika’s artworks can bring an empty space to life, bringing the essence of the outside, inside. In addition, Anika has vended and sold her paintings and prints at the RISD Craft Fair and the Providence Flea.
